Calgary Warehouse Forklift Training Programs - Warehouses could be commercial, retail or industrial facilities. Their function can differ from retailing bulk products to product distribution. To distribute products in the facility, some warehouses use a conveyor system. These systems are made with moving wheels and belts that could pose a pinch point danger. Keep body parts and hair well away from conveyors to avoid injury. Elevated conveyors pose a danger to staff underneath if safety nets are absent. Staff should know how to stop conveyors in the event of emergency. Be aware of the location of emergency stop buttons and off switches. When servicing conveyors, lock out/tag out measures are mandatory.

Pallet jacks and forklifts are designed to move materials around the warehouse. Forklift operators are required to take training and be given certification. Pallet jack operators do not need certification, but should be trained on the machinery. Training courses instruct operators in the correct ways for lifting materials and transporting them to their assigned place. Neither forklifts nor pallet jacks should ever be made use of to transport or lift workers.

To allow for adequate room for machinery and individuals to pass, storage shelving and rack systems help to create an efficient and orderly work space, especially if they are correctly braced. Careful and slow placement of good is required to prevent accidents caused by products falling off the facing aisle. Aisles should be kept clear by keeping products flat and inside the shelving units. Pallets are used for stacking products. Slippery floors that are pocked with dents and pits may present significant dangers, making good housekeeping extremely important. Warehouse floors and docks should be clear of debris oil and dirt. The area must be kept clear of boxes, baling supplies and garbage.
